It’s summertime, hell’s it’s a week where a film got releases, so a sequel is upon us. This July 4th week brings us two drastically different ones, both in terms of quality and subject matter.
The good is Magic Mike XXL, which follows up the superb original in a distinctly different manner, with more levity, friendship and laughs. It’s a casually progressive bit of excellence that is amongst the best films 2015 has had to offer and you can read my full thoughts here.
On the other end of the spectrum is Terminator Genisys, the fifth in the franchise that desperately yearns to restructure the whole robots vs humans war into a new string of blockbusters. Put simply, it’s not so good. Put less simply, in my review right here.
